Ha Long Bay from above: Ha Long Bay from above. Reaching this height wasn’t immediate, but once I got to the top, I immediately understood why it was worth the effort, because Ha Long Bay opened up in front of me in its full scale, quiet and almost still. From this perspective, everything shifts: distances expand and shapes fall into a rhythm that you simply cannot perceive from sea level. Ha Long Bay from above looks like a natural mosaic, made of hundreds of small islands rising out of the water as if they had been carefully placed one by one. The limestone formations rise vertically, covered in vegetation, creating a strong contrast with the smoother surface of the sea below. There’s no single path for the eye to follow, and yet it’s easy to get lost among these irregular forms. I found myself focusing on the smallest details: a distant boat slowly moving between the islands, barely noticeable, and the shadows stretching along the rocky walls, creating new patterns and shapes. Photographing from here meant trying to capture that sense of vastness without losing the complexity of the landscape. Finding a balance between the overall view and the details wasn’t simple. An interesting fact: Ha Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its karst formations shaped over millions of years by water and wind erosion, a slow process that created this unique landscape. Looking back at the image, what stands out the most is the feeling of suspension, as if everything were paused in a single moment. It’s a view that stays with you, because it completely changes the way you perceive both sea and land.
